Midwinter of the Spirit (A Merrily Watkins Mystery) - Phil Rickman

Merrily Watkins has several problems, the least of which is her new Bishop who seems to get under her cassock.  There is the guy with the smelly spirit, her daughter who really is her best friend, and her new job is delivering people from evil spirits.

                This mystery is really an urban fantasy which is really a mystery.  It will appeal to fans for M.R. James for it is centered on a cathedral.  It is not the first in the series, but it was easy enough to get into.  The book’s selling point is the carefully crafted characters and detailed setting.

                Honestly, I don’t know why this on the book stalls at last year’s local May Fair.
